Biochar Trials with Depleted Hawaiian Soils

The older Hawaiian Islands have limited soil building processes and thus have some of the poorest agricultural soils in the world. The University of Hawaii Center for Conservation Research and Training is conducting trials to determine the effects of biochar feedstock, soil type, application rates, and fertilizer on the growth and yield of plants in biochar emended soils on the island of Kauai.
